When it is time to replace the glass

What we replace

Whether you call it reglazing or glass window replacement, the work is the same: the frame stays, the glass changes. We cover glass and window replacement for homes, units and small commercial sites.

Single pane windows

Our most common job. Timber, aluminium and uPVC frames, reglazed in place.

Double glazed units

When the seal fails, the whole unit is replaced. That is what clears the fog for good.

Sliding and door panels

Heavy panels, toughened for good reason, handled with the right gear.

Fixed panes and features

Picture windows and fixed highlights, plus feature and leadlight surrounds.

Repair or replace? How we decide

Not every damaged window needs new glass, and we will tell you when it does not. Failed stays, sticking rollers and perished rubbers are hardware faults rather than glass faults, and a window glass repair of that kind is often sorted without touching the pane.

Once the glass is cracked through, chipped at an edge or fogged inside a sealed unit, replacement is the only proper fix, because a crack under load keeps travelling. Plenty of people pricing full window replacement in Melbourne find they only need the glass changed, and where the frame is sound that is the faster, less disruptive path.

Every replacement pane is sealed and finished properly, not just dropped in.

Glass types, and why they get chosen

Not sure what you have? We will tell you on site. Cutting and toughening in our own factory means we are not limited to what a supplier has left on the rack.

Measure, make, fit

Broken now? We make it safe first

If the pane is already out and the opening exposed, that is an emergency rather than a planned job. We board up and make safe first, then return and fit the permanent glass once it is made. Same-day glazing is often possible where the glass is a standard type.

Urgent window glass repairs run through our emergency service, with response times of around 30 minutes for the CBD and inner suburbs, 45 minutes east and west, and 60 minutes north and south. Full detail is on our emergency glass repair page. If it can safely wait, book it in as planned window glass replacement instead.

Insurance claims, handled

Broken glass is often covered by home and landlord policies, and by business insurance for shopfronts and offices. We photograph the damage, write the quote clearly enough for an assessor to read, and deal with your insurer directly where that helps.

Window glass replacement questions

Can you replace just the glass and keep my frame?

Yes, most of the time. If the frame is sound and the hardware works, there is no reason to pull the whole window out.

A fogged unit means the seal has failed. It cannot be resealed reliably, so we measure the opening, make a new unit and fit it.

A standard pane is a short visit once the glass is made. Made-to-order units and unusual shapes take longer. We confirm timing at the measure.

Yes. Hardware and seal faults are often repairable without new glass. Broken, cracked or fogged glass gets replaced.

Usually. Cutting and toughening in our own factory gives us room to match thickness, obscure patterns and odd sizes.

Wherever AS 1288 requires it. Doors, side panels, low windows and wet areas need toughened or laminated safety glass.

All of Melbourne. We are based at Dandenong South, so the south-east and bayside are our own backyard.
